Spring Break: Washington – A Walk In Day Break Park

Here’s a polished and more natural version of your travel journal entry that keeps your warm, conversational tone while improving flow, grammar, and clarity.

We’re in Washington State for spring break with Grandma, Grandpa, and Mizz! The kids have been counting down for weeks, and I’m so glad we finally made it. I flew with the kids by myself—which is always a bit stressful—but we survived! James had to use the bathroom about five times during the flight, which got a little old, and Lydia was very moody and yelled at me anytime I tried to ask her a question. But honestly, as far as flights go, it wasn’t too bad.

Yesterday we spent the day relaxing at Grandma and Grandpa’s while Mizz was at work. The kids were thrilled to rediscover all their old toys and play to their hearts’ content. Cohen even got to spend some quality time with Brennan, which absolutely made his day.

This morning, I tagged along with Mizz to her middle school jazz band rehearsal—it was hilarious! Those kids were a handful, but I could tell Mizz genuinely loves teaching them. And truthfully, they sounded pretty good! Afterward, Grandma and I took the kids for a lovely walk to Daybreak Park, the place I grew up swimming with my family. I adore bringing my kids there—it always feels like walking through my own childhood memories. We spotted tons of wildlife, and so many dogs, which of course delighted my dog-loving crew. It was such a peaceful, happy outing.

We made it back just in time to pick up Mizz and head out to see the new Mario Galaxy movie. The kids were ecstatic, and I was just as excited to share it with them. We wrapped up the day with Papa Murphy’s pizza—an Anderson family favorite. Altogether, it was such a joyful, nostalgic day.
