The day Lydia has been waiting for finally arrived—we got to see the allergist. Back in January, when I met with Lydia’s doctor and shared my concerns about her dairy intolerance, he referred us to an allergist. I thought that was strange since it seemed clear she didn’t have an allergy, but I scheduled the appointment anyway. It took several months to get in, which felt painfully long. As it turns out, I was right—what we really needed was a gastroenterologist, not an allergist. So the whole visit ended up being kind of a waste of time.
The allergist felt bad, though, and offered to test Lydia for environmental allergies. I was glad she did because Lydia often gets a runny nose when we’re in Washington. The good—and bad—news is that she isn’t allergic to anything environmental. Now I have no idea why she gets sniffly when we visit my family! Next up, scheduling that gastroenterologist appointment.
