When I first heard about the revival of Ragtime, I wasn’t all that excited. I didn’t really know much about the musical, and the ads didn’t make it look particularly appealing. But after talking with John at church—who said it was incredible and one of the best productions he’s seen in years—I started getting curious.
As it turned out, Camille had bought tickets for herself and her dad, but when she realized he’d be out of town before the show, she asked if I wanted to go with her. Of course! It’s always a good time hanging out with Camille, and I wasn’t about to pass that up.
I’m so glad I went. The show was absolutely beautiful—the music was powerful, and the cast was outstanding. While I didn’t love the set design (it felt a little weak to me), the talent and energy of the ensemble more than made up for it. I didn’t cry like John did, but it was definitely emotional. I have no doubt this production will do really well at the Tonys.
