Our weekend travel plans fell through, so we decided to turn it into a little staycation instead. On Friday, we took Cohen to see *The Lego Ninjago Movie* and ordered takeout for dinner. On Saturday, we kicked off the day with brunch at The Smith before continuing our staycation adventure at Boo at the Zoo at the Bronx Zoo!
Boo At The Zoo
The zoo was decked out with Halloween decorations and special themed activities. Lots of kids were dressed up, but since I wasn’t quite finished with Cohen’s costume, I threw a Superman cape on him and called it good. He loved “flying” around the zoo! We, of course, made a stop at the Nature Trek to check out the new activities—always a favorite for us.
After exploring the Nature Trek, we wandered through the zoo enjoying all the Halloween touches. There was an extinct-animal graveyard and a small hay maze that Cohen “completed” by jumping right over the hay bales. He also loved the bean bag toss and the big mirror ball—he could’ve stayed there all afternoon if we’d let him. And yes, we even saw a few animals along the way… as you do.
We wrapped up with a ride on the Bug Carousel and joined a lively dance party at Dancing Crane Plaza, complete with stilt performers and a drummer. Cohen was in his element dancing along.
No trip to the zoo is complete without snacks, so Cohen made sure to hit all his favorites: a hot dog from a food truck, a pretzel for the hayride, and of course an Icee—thanks to Jaxon Klem for introducing him to those!
