Cohen woke us up bright and early on Christmas morning—though to me and Jeff, it felt extra early after being up with Lydia every couple of hours the night before. Cohen’s excitement was contagious. He tore into his gifts with pure joy: new Cars toys, Thomas & Friends trains and tracks, a Nightmare Before Christmas apron, a Lego kit, and a sleek Lego Batmobile Lego. Santa even left a note explaining that he had brought King Kong and the Empire State Building, but it was too big for our apartment, so he took it back to the North Pole for safekeeping.
For Auntie Harmizzle we gave her a Classic Super Nintendo, bringing a dose of nostalgia to the morning. Jeff was thrilled with his new meat thermometer, and I was spoiled with beautiful Tiffany & Co. Christmas ornaments along with tickets to see My Fair Lady from Grandma and Grandpa. Little Lydia received sweet new clothes and a few rattles—perfect for her first Christmas. It was a wonderful Christmas Day. We built Cohen’s Batmobile, and Auntie Harmizzle and Cohen played Super Nintendo together. It felt nice to relax and take a break from all the packing. Since we didn’t have any plans for Christmas dinner, after a lot of back-and-forth discussion we decided to go to Han Sushi. Cohen loves sushi! It was also Lydia’s first-time dining at a restaurant.
Ugly Christmas Sweaters
Ugly Sweater Photoshoot! Auntie Harmizzle kindly got us all matching ugly sweaters, so we naturally had to do a little photoshoot. Mine was so warm that I didn’t last long in it, but Cohen absolutely loved his—once we finally convinced him to put it on! He even wore it to church the following Sunday.
