I really wanted to get our Christmas card out early this year, especially since we had a new address to share before everyone started sending their cards. To make it happen, my family came over to help with the photoshoot. I had the kids lay on a beautiful Christmas quilt my mom made for me using fabric she inherited from Grandma Anderson—it felt so special to include that personal touch.
Well, let’s just say the photoshoot didn’t go quite as planned. I managed to get some great shots of James and fantastic ones of Cohen, but Lydia? Oh boy, she was not having it! She was a total pill and refused to even lay down for two seconds so I could get a picture of all three of them together—the shot I really wanted for the front of the card. After much effort (and zero cooperation from Lydia), I ended up having to Photoshop two separate pictures together just to get a group shot. It wasn’t perfect, so I decided to put it on the back of the card instead.
Despite the chaos, I’m so glad I captured these moments. Even when things don’t go as planned, it’s these little stories and imperfect memories that make life so colorful—and honestly, they’re what we’ll laugh about for years to come!
Christmas Card Photoshoot Take Two
Since I didn’t manage to get a single decent picture of Lydia during our first photoshoot, I decided to do a second one just for her—and it was so much better! While I didn’t capture a perfect shot of her looking at the camera, I got some adorable photos of her laughing that totally worked. Sometimes, those candid moments are even better than posed ones!
I’m so glad I didn’t settle for the pictures from the first shoot. Taking the extra time was worth it, and Lydia’s joyful expressions really brought the Christmas card to life. Overall, the card turned out great, and I’m proud that I managed to get it sent out early this year!
