New York Preschool!
A month or two ago I started looking at preschool options for James for next year and after being totally disheartened by the price tag and the fact that he would need to go five days a week for full days, I had almost given up. But then I talked to one of the nannies in the playroom who told me about NY Kids Club and how she thought it was a good little school. I looked into it and they had two days a week for three hours only….totally what I was looking for. I was just going to sign him up for next year, but then decided that maybe I would start now to see how he does. I mean if he loves it then why wouldn’t I do more days next year. This school is just so amazing since it’s not as expensive as the others around, but it also offers a flexible schedule which is nice.
James was really excited about the cars backpack (the one that both Cohen and Lydia used). He doesn’t really even need it, but he was so excited about it that I left him wear it to school. Seriously so cute. I think James was also thrilled to be leaving for school with Lydia. He wants to be like the big kids so bad!
When we got to school he became amazingly clingy and didn’t want to do anything without me. He wanted to play with a green car, but another kid was and even when the kid dropped it, James wouldn’t go over and get it without me. I realized that he just needed me to leave. So, I left him in the chair…that I was supposed to be sitting in…and said goodbye and I would be back to pick him up. He seemed fine, so I headed out.
Breakfast for Mommy!
I didn’t want to wander too far away in case the staff needed me, so I headed to the restaurant next door for breakfast. It was so nice to have just a few hours to myself. Breakfast was lovely and then I walked around the area taking some pictures. Like I have no idea there was a piece of the Berlin Wall in our neighborhood. I walked around the NYC police memorial which I thought was nice, but probably better in the spring when the fountain is on. I ended up in Brookfield’s to walk around in the warm until it was time to go get James. All in all, a nice couple hours.
Pickup Time!
James was so happy when I returned to school at the end of class. He was sitting on the floor with his teachers playing with a fun little flower toy he was loving. When he saw me, his face lit up and ran to the door. His teachers said he did so great! I was so happy that both James and I enjoyed our time! I think a lot of parents would be sad with their kid starting pre-school, but I’m thrilled. Don’t get me wrong I have loved having James as my buddy for the past several months with the other two kids in school, but it’s nice having just a moment to myself. And I think it’s so good for James to have some time with other kids and engaging with teachers. I think it’s just good for him. So, a win win!
