Cohen had an amazing year in Ms. Greene and Ms. Ds class. We were so blessed to have them as teachers this year. I know Cohen’s love of school is because of those two fantastic teachers.
Year Highlights:
Family Friday: Once a month Jeff or I got to go have breakfast with Cohen, which we really enjoyed! Cohen was always so thrilled to see us and it gave us a chance to see him interact with the other kids.
Fairy Tale Plays: Cohen was an amazing Big Bad Wolf in the “Three Little Pigs.” It gave me so much joy seeing him get into the part.
Pumpkin Decorating: Auntie Harmizzle got to join us for this special Family Friday. It was so much fun decorating Cohen’s little pumpkin with him.
AMNH: I got to go on two fieldtrips with Cohen this year. We LOVED seeing the special exhibits at the museum with Cohen’s little classmates.
Concerts: Cohen had two concerts this year. They were both so fun! Cohen was a lot more into the first one, but both were totally entertaining for me.
Mother’s Day Tea: The Friday before Mother’s Day I got to join Cohen at school for breakfast. We also made a sweet little craft (a paper tea cup).
Library Trips: Jeff went with Cohen on two of the Library Trips. Apparently, all the kids liked Jeff and wanted him to read to them. One mom sent me a picture of Jeff on a bench surrounded by kids.
Developments:
When Cohen started the year, he could barely recognize his name. Not only can he spell it now, he can write it! (sometimes the C is backwards, but you can still tell it’s Cohen!). He’s gotten so much better with his numbers and even started doing a little math. He’s not a big fan of art, but his pictures are getting more detailed. He has one amazing imagination and my goal is to encourage it so he never loses it! He seemed to get along with most of the kids in his class and I was told by a couple parents that Cohen was the nicest kid in class and I’ll take that over reading early any day! He will learn to read one day, but being nice is something not easily learned.
Lunch With Friends
After a short day at school and some tearful goodbyes from some of Cohen’s friends, we headed over to Benihanas with Maria, Ursula, and Gus. Jeff also joined us, which was a wonderful surprise! Like I have said before, Cohen is obsessed with hibachi, so he was thrilled beyond reason to celebrate his last day of Pre-K eating lunch with friends and HIBACHI! Oh, and Cohen wore the hat the whole time.
