We made apple cider with Grandma and Grandpa once before, when we were living in Washington during COVID. Usually, we leave before cider-making season arrives, but because we bought the house and were staying till the beginning of September this year, we were able to join them again.
The kids absolutely loved it. I think Lydia’s favorite part was drinking the fresh cider straight from the press! They were all helpful, but Cohen may have been the most dedicated. He took his job of cranking the press very seriously and kept at it for a long time.
Grandma was a rock star, sitting and cutting most of the apples while Lydia and James helped me add them to the press. There is something so special about watching the kids take part in traditions like this. I love that they get to have these hands-on experiences and make these memories with Grandma and Grandpa.
Mizz ended up joining us too, which made the afternoon even more memorable. It was such a fun visit—and the fresh apple cider was definitely worth the work!
