Now it was Lydia’s turn for Family Friday. I’m a little sad that this will be her last one this year—the year is really flying by. For the activity, I got to sit with Lydia and go through her writing book, helping her with that day’s prompt. It was so fun flipping through her pages and seeing how far she’s come, from her very first entries to where she is now. She’s improved so much, and I’m incredibly proud of her.
Churros, Churros, Churros!
There’s a game on James’s iPad where he can pretend to make churros, and he’s absolutely obsessed with it. He was so excited that he asked me if we could try making real ones. The app made it look so simple! I kept postponing, but finally promised we’d give it a go on Friday after school.
Well, today is the day. When I looked up a recipe, I was pleasantly surprised—just a few basic ingredients, all of which we already had. So while the kids played, I whipped up a batch of churros for James. It was actually really fun, and once I got the hang of it, I even managed to make some with perfect ridges! James and Cohen were thrilled, and the churros were a hit. We’ll definitely have to make them again sometime.
