We wrapped up spring break with a trip to the Point Defiance Zoo, and it was such a fantastic experience! The long drive made it a bit of a trek, so we probably won’t be making it again anytime soon, but I’m so glad we got the chance to check it out. Lydia, who is absolutely obsessed with zoos, was thrilled to be there. Although the long drive left her a little off her game, and she wasn’t too happy about waiting in line to get into the aquarium, her excitement completely took over once we were inside. She was mesmerized by the sharks and could have stayed there forever!
Loving the Tigers and the Octopus!
The tigers were another major highlight for both Cohen and Lydia—they were totally captivated. The second aquarium was just as impressive as the first, with even more incredible sharks and an unforgettable close encounter with an octopus. Watching Lydia light up with excitement was priceless—she’s been obsessed with octopuses ever since watching The Penguins of Madagascar.
Captivating Sealions
We also visited the sea lions, which were a huge hit. The observation deck below gave us an up-close view, and one particularly playful sea lion loved following fingers along the glass, spinning in the water as it played. Cohen got to interact with it a few times, and it was so fun to watch his face light up. Even Mizz couldn’t resist joining in on the fun!
Finishing Up The Zoo
While this zoo wasn’t quite as polished as the Oregon Zoo, its aquarium exhibits were truly top-notch. Seeing Cohen and Lydia so engaged and excited made it all worthwhile. And James? He was such a good sport for most of the trip—what more could we ask for? It was a wonderful way to end spring break!
