We decided to hop in the car and drive to New Jersey for a trip to Trader Joe’s. When we arrived, I was surprised to see a long line of people spaced six feet apart, following the social distancing guidelines. Once inside, the store was eerily quiet, and everyone seemed on edge. You had to be careful not to get too close to anyone, or you’d risk getting a sharp glare or making someone visibly uncomfortable. It was such a surreal experience.
As we were shopping, I turned around and saw my whole family together in their masks—it was such a striking moment that I had to take a picture to document this unique time in our lives. Honestly, I don’t think future generations will believe some of the things we did during this pandemic. It’s one of those moments that feels both bizarre and historic all at once.
