I remember reading this play in high school and watching a film adaptation, so I already had a general sense of the story. Honestly, I wanted to see this particular production because it starred Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf. And of course, I’m always excited to say I’ve seen another Broadway show! I was thrilled when I won the ticket lottery—and even happier that Maria was free to join me.
The performances were excellent, and I came away with a deeper appreciation for the play now that I’m older. That said, I couldn’t help feeling like the set design was a bit underwhelming—they really seemed to have skimped on it. It’s starting to feel like that’s a bit of a trend on Broadway this season.
