After school, the kids came home to find the apartment all decorated for Christmas—just as I promised. I’d pulled out all the ornaments so they could jump right into decorating the tree, and they were absolutely thrilled. James is still a little jealous of how many ornaments Cohen has (understandably—they’re pretty cool!), but I reminded him that Cohen started collecting six years earlier. I loved watching how carefully each of them placed their ornaments, paying attention to every little detail. We did lose one ornament in the process, but that’s part of the fun when kids are decorating. In the end, the tree turned out beautifully. I couldn’t be prouder of them—the kids are just amazing.
